The HTC handset offers the HTC Sense UI, which is also found on the HTC Hero. Obviously, since it’s not an HTC product, you’re not going to find this in Google’s Nexus One. The Sense UI is improved and faster and has incorporated other contact features that make the Nexus One look much more boring than the Desire. A “helicopter view” is new to Sense and works much the way Expose works on a Mac. If you pinch the homescreen it will display all the pages that are running on the homescreen. All you need to do then is tap the screen to grab the one you want or pinch back out as the Desire supports multi-touch. So, which is the better buy? They’re virtually the same. Really, it’s mostly a matter of personal preference. If you’re really stuck, consider the fact the HTC Desire is a newer release than the Google Nexus One. That fact alone might make it a better buy.

Nokia’s new addition to their smartphone range is the N8. With a large number of different features and technologies it is sure to be a close competitor to the popular iPhone. What makes the Nokia N8 doubly special is the use of Nokia’s new Symbian ^3 operating system. Nokia are continuing their popular collaboration with the long standing optics specialists Carl Zeiss in the new Nokia N8 with a 12 mega pixel camera incorporated into the design. They are also offering full 720p HDMI support for the recording and playback of home movies. One particular standout feature (as if HDMI support is not enough) is the use of Dolby surround sound on video playback. A standout feature of the Nokia N8 is the large 3.5″ LCD display. It will support a resolution of 640 x 360 widescreen and will be able to display up to 16.7 million colors. Along with the touch screen system, it will also contain a compass, a proximity sensor, an ambient light detector and an accelerometer. The new Nokia N8 is certainly able to compete directly with the likes of the iPhone and Blackberry, with it’s mass of downloadable content from the Ovi Store in the form of widgets and applications, most notably in the shape of Web TV. Using Web TV the user can view movies available from providers such as National Geographic, E! Entertainment, CNN and Paramount. It is easy to see from the features stated that the Nokia N8 will be a very commendable contender against the likes of the iPhone and Blackberry. Nokia have once again made a handset worthy to be sold under the name of the largest mobile phone manufacturer in the world.

Our world is truly amazing today. Think about how quickly technology has changed the way we celebrate and communicate.

I was reading an article the other day about one of the oldest citizen’s in Australia.

She is officially a centenarian.

She’s got a letter from the Queen, the Prime Minister and everything. Pretty impressive.

Born in 1899…Now think about how the world was in 1899 or the early 1900’s – a lot different from today – a whole lot different. This is a person really from a generation of pioneers who worked hard and rarely complained.

Her name is Miriam and if you work it out, she has woken to more than 40,000 new sunrises.

As the article mentions she “welcomes each day with a sense of gratitude and excitement”. She is pretty much an incredible 100 year old woman with a sharp wit and great attitude.

Plus she has not lost the appreciation of small marvels such as the pair of automatic doors that swing open to let wheelchairs through in her nursing home “Aren’t they wonderful” she states whilst being wheeled passed them by a visitor- the purr is still in her old engine.

Now I know this is a challenge question but have you ever thought what sort of cake would you want at age 100?

I was thinking about cakes and reflected that a cake or novelty birthday cake is also like Miriam’s approach to each new day it is welcomed with a sense of gratitude and excitement.
